Lisa Stock Equine Services

Training and Services

Being mindful that every horse is different, Lisa and her team undertake an evaluation upon arrival at Casebourne Farm. All initial consultations with owners to discuss their needs and those of their horse are free of charge when undertaken at the Farm. Lisa is happy to visit you at your own premises to discuss your needs with a charge for her time and travel.

Facilities at the Farm include a horse walker ideal for horses recuperating from injury. There is ample access to safe hacking, and smaller roads where youngsters or nervous horses can be shown traffic. The experienced and capable team use reliable lead horses to introduce young stock to the outside world, instilling the confidence needed to hack safely. The aim is always for a smooth transition from Casebourne Farm back to your own stables.

Owners are both welcomed and encouraged to participate in their horse’s progress wherever possible.

Breaking and Schooling

When evaluating youngstock for breaking it is important for Lisa to have as much information as possible so she and her team can devise a programme that suits each horse and causes the least amount of stress. Progress is carefully monitored and horses are only ever worked within the parameters of their current capabilities. It is also helpful for Lisa and her team to know what, if any, discipline will be the biggest part of the youngsters future.

Length of stay is variable but a minimum of four weeks is suggested for backing, although this may need to be extended depending on owner’s requirements and their horse’s progress. keeping the length of stay flexible ensures a confident return home for both horse and owner.

Retraining

Retraining of older or problem horses and ponies is a real concern for some owners. Many of the problems that arise seem insurmountable. The team at Casebourne realise that retraining is never a straightforward issue and that other problems may arise during the process. Many owners are now taking on ex racehorses who require a quieter way of life or a new purpose. Having spent most of her competitive career in Point to Point, Lisa is fully aware of the needs of these horses and of the fulfilling lives and competitive futures they can go on to.

With this in mind the length of stay for retraining needs to be very flexible and the participation of the owner in the process is encouraged at all stages to ensure a compatible end result.

Rehabilitation

Many owners find the demands of an injured horse or pony difficult to deal with. Either they don’t have the facilities needed or work commitments mean they lack the time to oversee a speedy recovery.

Casebourne Farm is fully equipped to deal with horses returning to work from injury or just needing rest and recuperation in safe and secure surroundings. Having a close working relationship with local vets Lisa and her team take pride in the full recovery of many of the horses that come to the Farm after injury or illness.

As with retraining the length of stay needs to be flexible as all injuries are different and the healing process will vary in each case. Living on site gives Lisa the ability to monitor injured horses 24hrs a day where needed and progress can be evaluated far more precisely.

With an enviable acreage of good grazing, horses requiring rest with either limited or full turnout can be accommodated. Where necessary quiet companion horses can be provided for those unsure or nervous about being turned out alone. There are also ample small well fenced paddocks for restricted individual turnout.

As the needs of each case differ there is more likely to be added costs from veterinary treatments. Owners are required to give a full veterinary report upon arrival and ensure the staff are fully aware of ongoing treatments. Casebourne Farm also requires the details of the current attending vet and any insurance claim pertaining to the injury so they can adhere closely to the prescribed treatment plan.

Alternative therapies can be organised at the request of the attending vet or the owner, these are at the owners expense and must be authorised by the vet to run in conjunction with the treatment plan.

Once a return to work has been cleared by the attending vet, Lisa will devise a rehabilitation schedule in line with veterinary recommendations. Progress is then carefully monitored with regular updates to the attending vet to ensure a full return to health and fitness where possible.

Preparation for Sale

Casebourne Farm offers a service that aims to alleviate the stress and heartache that comes with parting with a horse.

After an initial evaluation and discussion, horses are prepared for sale and sold from the farm on behalf of the owners.

This service benefits both the owner and prospective purchaser as not all owners have the appropriate trial facilities to show their horse off to its best advantage.

All advertising and dealing with prospective purchasers is undertaken by Lisa and her team and the owners can be as involved as they wish with the process. NO horse will be sold without the express agreement of the current owner.
